Wilderness Education & Medicine of Texas is the sum of many years of professional and personal experience in outdoor programming and experiential education. Jan Hackett owner/director brings a wealth of experience in risk management, outdoor leadership and “wilderness” skills from his time spent at Duke University as the Director of Outdoor Programs. 

You can enjoy one of our experiential education programs individually by signing up for one of our many classes or make arrangements for us to come to you and your group. 

Our programs in Wilderness First Aid, Advanced Wilderness First Aid, Wilderness First Responder, Work Place Safety, CPR/AED and First Aid training are authorized by the National Association of Search & Rescue, American Safety & Health  Institute and Emergency Care & Safety Institute. Partnering with these various organizations allows us to deliver cost-effective traditional instructor led classes or a “blended” class that includes web based learning and a separate skills assessment class. These programs in first aid, CPR, AED, workplace safety, disaster/emergency preparedness, wilderness emergency classes have been reviewed by and meet the guidelines of the Department of Labor, Occupational Safety & Health Administration, Department of Transportation, and United States Coast Guard and more. .
